Breaking stereotypes

D.D. Smith fr Andreas Ingeman watches

Meet Deiondre Donte Smith, D.D amongst friends. This creative Miami boy, currently a New York City resident, is breaking his way into the fashion and arts scene, inspired by the pioneers of androgyny.

Who is Deiondre Donte Smith and where is he heading?

Deiondre Donte Smith is someone who breaks stereotypes. Growing up in an artistic family, I've always had a passion for creating moments in my craft. I aspire to make art that people are enlightened by.

How would you describe yourself?

A Virgo. Down to Earth, Loyal, Analytical.

I'm very critical on myself because I'm very determined to make my dreams come true. Failure is not an option.

Why did you start modelling, and how did it all start?

My cousin, Sergio Wonder, who has been a fashion  designer in NYC for years, asked me to be in his fashion show. Even though I enjoyed taking pics with friends, I had no experience at all so I was really scared. But I ended up doing amazing and now modeling has became one of my biggest passions.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to leave a footprint in history. I want to be know a household name for the art I make, whether is through modeling, acting, dancing, etc.

What do you love about New York?

Even though NYC isn't exactly what I hoped and dreamed it would be, it has hosted some of the best years in my life. The opportunities are endless here.

Any hidden gems in the city you would like to share?

Well me and my friend thomas are really wild when we get together. We found an abandoned old building right in the middle of Chelsea. Somehow we snuck in, and it became a place to hangout, take pics, etc.

What is the best places for fashion shopping?

I would say thrift shops for sure!! I can lost in thrift shops for hours, because examining every inch of that shop is crucial!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

My biggest inspiration is Grace Jones and Prince. Their energy that they convey through their craft is so beautiful and genuinely gives me goosebumps. I consider them pioneers of androgyny.

How would you describe your personal style?

This is a loaded question for me, because I think my style is constantly changing. Some days I like having a dressy formal look, or casual everyday chic look. Either way, I love taking risk with I wear. I've bypassed the fear of what people will think about me. I love showcasing my creativity and being best dressed in the room.

If you could have 15 minutes with Donald Trump, what would you do?

This sounds like a nightmare. But hypothetically speaking, if I could have 15 hypothetic minutes with Trump, then I would hypothetically poison him... Hypothetically!

If you could chose 3 songs for «the soundtrack of your life», which tracks would that be?

Forever young - Jay Z

Wild thoughts - Rihanna

Can't do it like me - Azealia Banks

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself dominating in my craft while still learning. I believe you're never to old to learn more; the world has a lot to offer. I also aspire to build a platform (such as a magazine, website, etc.) where other creatives and I can have an outlet and to express freely.
